Thanks to my mentors and lived experiences in my bachelors and masters courses, I knew from early on that Psychiatry as a medical specialty would be the best for me. My earliest teachers and parents believed I had a keen eye for observation and a zeal for knowledge. 

When in my graduate program, this incident is worth a mention. My mother being a high school teacher, parents from the neighbourhood would come to her with scholastic difficulties in their children. There was a child with dyslexia and subsequent scholastic decline brought to her. I tried to tell them that it’s a disorder which should be treated with systematic treatment plans rather than corporal punishment. Alas, the parents were not ready to accept the facts. It has been my lived experience that stigma does exist around all facets of psychiatric disorders; and I wanted to be in a better position to address the same. There it was, that moment of epiphany , I wanted to be a psychiatrist. 

Although seemingly simple incidents prima facie, I believe these are quite complicated issues resulting from poor awareness, substandard service delivery provisions coupled with stigma, and lastly lack of strong multidisciplinary approach. 

Being a founding member  at an international non-profit organisation Global Psychiatric Association, I am well aware of orchestrated multidisciplinary, multi-generational harmonic collaboration of efforts to reap the tastiest fruits. I wish to put my professional expertise to good use at Ananda.ai to strive for the most sustainable and feasible healthcare delivery service format and provide patient care of supreme standards.
