Teenage is referred to as the age of turmoil. There are significant emotional and physical transitions which can be overwhelming for the adolescent. The worldly exposure and expectations add to that.
Our budding author, Taanvi Arekapudi, experienced and learnt to handle her overwhelming emotions with the help of her mother who is a mindfulness and meditation teacher. Faced by strong emotions and feelings of confusion and frustration, 13-year-old Taanvi not only managed to overcome the challenge by mastering effective techniques to get the better of the situation, but also went ahead and penned a book โUplift Teens Todayโ to help others like her with coping strategies.
Ananda was intrigued by the journey of the young mental health advocate. Wanting to know more about her, Ananda conducted a live interview with Taanvi on 3rd March, 2023. During the discussion, Taanvi shared her own experience of how breathing techniques helped her tackle stressful situations.
The viewers also had some questions for our guest, in response to which she shared the techniques and exercises she uses on a daily basis to maintain positive mental health and prevent stress. Through the conversation we also learnt that Taanvi has founded the Empowerment Club at her school, which provides a safe space for her peers to express and address their ongoing emotional concerns.
Along with publishing an international bestselling book and establishing a club, our guest has also been graced with multiple awards for her work towards raising awareness about mental health in teenagers. She is also the Youth Ambassador for National Alliance on Mental Illness.
When asked about her future plans, she shared her aim to become a mental health professional for the purpose of professionally helping people live a mentally balanced life.

She also shared quite some amazing ideas about how we as a society can evolve into a place where the stigma around mental health no longer exists and people support each other through their struggles.
